My step sister just ran another 5K this weekend in the St. Louis area where she resides. She is a teacher, wife, and mother of two girls. I remember going to one of her track meets when she was just in high school. She ran three miles and was way out in front of the rest of the group after the first mile marker - with her sister running beside her the whole way. It just made me wonder how many people still do what they used to love when they were younger. Most of us had some activity or hobby in high school that was a large part of who we were at the time. How many of us still sing in the shower compared to how many sing in a choir? Why?

Down 3 lbs in two weeks!!!

I have been devoted to my “Standard Process” 21 day cleanse - all the fruits and veggies I can tolerate and the shake - which I have done only once a day . . . . . . . . I found out it was 350 calories - what a let down and although doesn’t taste bad, for 350 calories, I would rather eat a bucket of cucumbers and steam some beets or something. Actually, it is the 1 Tbsp of flaxseed oil that is hoarding the calories here - which is I realize is great for all of us, but opted out of the 3 Tbsp per day that would have been required in the 3 shakes a day.

Quite honestly - this is day 22 and I would eat the leg of a bamboo chair for some protien - but I abstain as I spent too much money on my teeth this past year. The “SP Green Food” vitamin smells a little like liquorice (which I love) and I take those slowly - one at a time to savor the smell/flavor(?)

I have been walking a minimum of 5 miles per day - usually pushing a baby stroller (with dog and baby) and I feel incredibly better. Don’t miss my 3 p.m. nap a bit! My L-5 back problem and pinched nerve in my neck have dissipated to minor annoyances (is this because my feet hurt so bad?) Before I started I was not drinking enough water and have gotten in the habit of drinking a minimum of 64 oz per day - not really difficult if you use small 16 oz water bottles and refill them with the “Spring Water” required by the diet - just always have a bottle with you - it goes fast.

With all that, I was sure God loved me best and I would be down to a mere 100 lbs by now - but since we are in this together, I will accept the three pound loss and continue with a Standard Process shake each day - fruits and vegetables and avoid the carbs.. . . . and lets not forget “Taco Monday” - Ole’

xoxo Mamasita!

Ok at this point I wish any calories I consumed in Vegas stayed there!! I went there for a 21st bday party so I felt the need to partake in some party food and drinks. Now I am the type of person that can only drink one drink, so this does help me in the long run (on several points). But my weakness is playing CRAPS, which leads to me gambling at all hours of the night which leads to eating crap at night or early morning (I’m pretty sure that is where it gets it’s name). Most of my food consumption consisted of vegetable quesadillas and wine….not bad for Vegas, but not great for my regular routine!! I am now back home as of yesterday and back on track! I walked 6 miles today and had veggies, salmon, chicken, and 1/2 cup of pasta. I will try harder throughout the week to get better, but this is a real test for me….we start traveling at least once a week and that is when I am going to need some real support and help:)

Thanks to all for blogging back and checking in!

Ok so a week and a half ago I had to go to the Dr. to get a check-up. Little did I remember that they weigh you! Ugh….here it comes…. the big moment! Of course I told them I just had a baby 5 months ago and haven’t weighed myself in 2 1/2 weeks since being on this new health diet..blah..blah….blah….. bottom line they had no sympathy. I love that they asked me to take off my shoes so that they could get my “accurate” height, but when I asked them if I could just leave my shoes off to get my “accurate” weight, they didn’t seem to think that was necessary. Not only did I leave my shoes off, I made sure I took off my big bulky sweatshirt which only led to the nurse rolling her eyes and saying “really? do you really need to do that?” Well “heck yes” I needed to do that, hey sista every ounce of weight counts here! So the magical number the scale said was “117!!” YES! I lost 3 pounds!! I was so excited!! My NO carb plus exercise plan is working!! Well this is perfect because I needed to leave for Vegas in 4 days, so I needed all the help I could get:)
Plus, I stopped counting every calorie because I seemed to be eating the same thing every day, so every day I ended up with anywhere between 900-1200 calories which is very acceptable for my weight loss plan. However, I do notice that by not writing down every thing I eat makes me not as accountable for everything I think about eating.
So bottom line here ladies and gents writing down everything you eat and looking up the calories and being HONEST about it to yourself will really help you in the long run!!

Well, I’m proud to say I’ve done much better this week. I’ve really upped the veggies and have been drinking my morning shakes every day, getting protein and minimal but enough carbs. Who knew the recurring advice I’ve been given for the past ten years actually works.

I have one question for our blog following sistas….I have an eternal hate for working out my abs. Not because it’s painful or too time consuming, I just hate how it looks. (My real sistas will get a kick out of this as I always complain about how anti-abs I am). I don’t get a slimming effect out of them, I just look fatter. I just don’t see the point in it. Am I doing something wrong here?!

I’m headed down tomorrow to see “big sista”, “little sista” and “the mom”. I hear they have a great workout facility and nothing’s better than some motivation from my sistas!

I am 54 yrs old, 4′10″ and today weigh 120 lbs. Weight Goal: 107

This is bad . . . . . . really bad as it is the most I have ever weighed with the exception of pregnancy. To make it even worse, I had “Slim Lipo” this past October and now weigh two lbs more than ‘before’ Laser Lipo. Granted, since October I did ‘jiggy up’ the Java Chillers (Hazelnut to be exact) and both Thanksgiving and Christmas were most enjoyable . . . . . followed by a steady diet of unhealthy carbs and ice cream - extra on the ice cream to be exact.

Enough on how I got here.

The original “plan” was that all three of us were to use the “Standard Process” 21 day purification program. Now I read that we are dieting for 90 days and transform our life styles . . . . . . . once again, the mom is the last to know but surrendered and I am still “in”.

I started March 2 - and AM using the “Standard Process” 21 day plan for purification (detox). Requirements are simple - two to three SP Complete shakes per day and all the veggies and fruit you want. Veggies should be two to one on the fruit and there are 10 vitamins to take three times per day (more of the detox part). Eight glasses of water also - no problem with all of those *#!! vitamins! All healthy, and the vitamins help your innards maintain healthy functions.

First couple of days, headache and fatigue as I missed my morning coffee as well as my heavy carb intake. By day three I was feeling much better and energy sparked enough to start walking four miles a day. Why bother with the piddly one or two miles when you are with your oldest daughter who clearly thinks four miles is a cinch. You know, by day five it really was! Pushing a baby stroller - one complete mile in the grass alone (sidewalk runs out at mile 1 1/2). Somewhere in here I should mention no one can say I am full of sh*#! because that detox part begins to work and alot of ’stuff’ decides to leave your body. I actually do feel better and don’t crave the carbs as I thought I would. Not even my beloved Java Chillers!

Monday the 8th - one complete week is over and the heading on my journal (provided by “Standard Process”) “Its The Last Day on SP Cleanse”! Yay! The whole family here went out to our favorite ‘Taco Monday’ at Pablanos in Clearwater and after a week long of salad, salad and more salad, I did succumb to two tacos and my feeling was “muy bien”! Tuesday morning I started all over again with the only difference being there are only 10 new vitamins and 9 of the original vitamins to take per day. I really think I may have skipped the tacos and had a salad had it not been for that exclamation mark on the journal heading.

Haven’t gotten on the scale yet and may brave to do so before week two is over. Can’t tell by my pants because while in Florida I only wear elastic waist capris (comfort you know) - time will tell!

Mombo - signing off

	Thoughts:
Ok I have failed miserably with my “no eating bread rule”. I am beginning to feel like every day is ground hog day with my diet and it’s only week 2! Ugh….. so I decided to change it up a bit with my pita and hummus…and cookies☺ However in my defense I did walk over 2 ½ miles holding a 16-pound kid screaming his guts out, so I figured that cookies were in order to “de-stress”. Haha☺ I hope not to make a habit of this day. On a good note, this is the first day my “fat girl pants”-before I was pregnant- actually fit! (I do hope to make a habit of this☺)

Thursday:
Food:
*instant breakfast drink. Cal: 240
*2 oranges. Cal: 100
*rice and chicken casserole. Cal: 500
*roasted vegetables. Cal: 200
Total Cal:1040

	Exercise:
None to speak of for today. It rained all day and I worked all day.

	Notes:
A coke sounds really really good right now!! I know people always say once you give up soda you will never want it again, but that is just so far from the truth for me!! I gave up Coke once for 5 months and I craved it every day! And it tasted great the first time I had it again! So I am not convinced that this time will be any different….I just need to not drink it for these 3 months while I am trying to lose weight since it is “empty calories”. Or that is my goal for right now. Still no luck with doing my PX90! I am sooo bummed! I wanted to fit it into my schedule somehow, but with trying to run businesses, a new born, my husbands schedule, and working out an hour already, I am finding that there is really no time left in my day for anything extra. In order to do it, I would need to hire a babysitter and then I could get more accomplished, which is something I am not willing to do just yet. I really didn’t want to send my son to a babysitter until he was at least 6 months old (or crawling…which ever happens first!) Oh well, I hope I am at least losing some weight with what I am doing and can hit the gym hard once April gets here☺

I started my diet plan just this Monday and am not off to a good start. My fitness goals are simply to be more fit and not necessarily to lose weight. When you have a goal like this, and I’m sure other ’sistas’ with the same goals would agree, it’s not terribly motivating to just not eat the piece of chocolate cake.

I work out for 45 minutes to 1 hour on the stair mill at my gym four days a week, do upper body weights two days a week and do pilates two days a week.

I started Sunday night with eating the vegetables only and let me tell you, stair mill and vegetables only just don’t mix. I had to quit at 30 minutes or pass out due to malnutrition. So…. several nachos later I was officially derailed from day 1 of my diet and I’m not really a get back on the horse kind of sista. I’m more like a “have a martini and think about it” kind of a sista. Ha!

Day two was a bit better, I didn’t eat anything bad, I just ate a lot of everything. I got a lot of veggies in though so I felt a bit better.

Day three (today) I’m off to a good start. I however didn’t have time to do my shake this morning (bigsista says it’s nasty so I’m not highly encouraged to put out the effort just yet). Thought I might make it tonight as a test run so I’m not thoroughly disappointed at breakfast tomorrow. I’m off to lunch as we speak and crossing my fingers that the special doesn’t involve anything chocolate.
